Allows heavy calf training with a fixed bar path and little balance demand, and is easy to progress by adding plates. It also lets you stand on a block for a deeper stretch.
Do 3 to 4 sets of 12 to 20 reps with the balls of the feet on a raised block or plate. Lower the heels for a full stretch, pause briefly, then press up to the highest point you can reach. Rest 45 to 60 seconds between sets and keep the knees nearly straight throughout.
Use a stable platform and a controlled weight. Avoid a bouncy tempo, and re-rack the bar carefully.
