Grip the bar with palms facing away from you, hands shoulder-width or slightly wider.

Hang with arms fully extended, shoulders engaged.

Pull yourself up until your chin clears the bar, driving elbows down and back.

Avoid excessive kipping or swinging unless training specifically for it.
