1 cup toor dal or moong dal
2 cups fresh spinach, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp cumin seeds
2 dried red chilies
1 tbsp oil or ghee
to taste salt

Step 1
Wash and pressure-cook dal with turmeric and salt until soft, about 3-4 whistles.

In a separate pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds and dried red chilies.

Add onion and sauté until golden, then add ginger-garlic paste and tomato. Cook until soft.

Add the chopped spinach and cook until wilted, about 3-4 minutes.

Pour in the cooked dal, mix well and simmer for 5-6 minutes.

Adjust consistency with water if needed, and serve hot with roti or rice.
