A Shankaracharya Bhilai alumnus and tech freelancer from Raipur shares how he dropped from 73.5 kg to 56.5 kg with a 1,600 calorie structured diet, progressive training, and no shortcuts — while working full-time.
📖 The Full Story

Ankush never set out to become a fitness story. He set out to ship clean code.

A software engineer by training, Shankaracharya Bhilai alumnus by pride, and a freelance tech consultant by profession, Ankush spent most of his days the way most engineers do — behind a screen, solving problems for clients across time zones, eating whatever was fastest, and moving only as far as his desk chair would roll.

At his peak, he weighed 73.5 kg. Not dangerously heavy by any standard, but enough that he felt it — in his energy, his focus, the way his clothes fit, and the way he moved through the world. Body fat sat somewhere he didn't want to measure. Sleep was functional. Health was an afterthought.

"I was optimising everything in my clients' systems," he says, "but completely ignoring the most important system — my own."

The shift happened gradually, then all at once. As someone who builds digital products for a living, Ankush approached his body the same way he'd approach a broken codebase: find the root cause, fix it systematically, don't guess. He began tracking his food the same way he tracked bugs — with precision and without ego. He restructured his meals around real data. He built consistency into his schedule the same way he built reliability into his software: with repeatable systems, not motivation.

No gym membership at first. No crash diet. No dramatic overhaul. Just a calculated, patient process.

The protocol was methodical. A structured weekly diet — 1,600 calories, high protein, whole foods, built around what actually grows and sells in Chhattisgarh. Arhar dal. Paneer. Roti. Dahi. Green sabzi. Real food, measured. Whey protein post-workout. Ten soaked almonds mid-morning. Nothing revolutionary. Everything consistent.

Training came next — progressive, structured, non-negotiable even on project deadlines.

Over months, the numbers moved. Not because he was special. Because he didn't stop.

Seventeen kilograms came off. The scale read 56.5 kg. Body fat dropped to 4.5% — the kind of number that takes most people years of dedicated athletic training to approach. For a freelance tech engineer working from Raipur, it is, by any measure, exceptional.

But the number Ankush is more interested in isn't on the scale. It's the number of freelance clients he picked up during the same period — proof that better physical health compounded directly into sharper mental output, more energy for deep work, and the discipline that spills over from one domain into every other.

"The body and the code are the same problem," he says simply. "Both need clean inputs, consistent maintenance, and patience with the process."

He still lives in Raipur. He still takes freelance clients. He still ships code. He just does all of it at 56.5 kg, 4.5% body fat, and with considerably more energy than before.

The debugging never really stops. You just get better at it.
